The risk of the Covid-19 pandemic is significantly less with public health measures and most seniors vaccinated. However, senior citizens are a special health risk with our multiple diseases and age related changes to our immune system. The Medical Director of Austin Public Health Authority, Dr Desmar Walkes, will discuss “What Vaccinated Seniors Can Safely Do In Their Everyday Lives”.
In addition to her lecture, there will be time for questions. This is a well timed opportunity to find answers we seniors can not easily find on our own.
Dr Walkes is a graduate of University of Texas Medical Branch Galveston. She has practiced family medicine in Bastrop for 30 years and been Public Health Director of Bastrop County since 2007. She assumed her current position in 2021. She was preceded at Austin Public Health by Dr Mark Escott. She has an amazing record of leadership of medical causes in several fields. Dr. Walkes is a wonderful combination of real life family medicine and public health physician.
