To commemorate Fall Prevention Awareness Week, we are privileged to have Rekha Nath, PT, MHS of Veda Posit Aging address this essential subject.

Veda Posit Aging is committed to empowering all older adults in Austin to age well and stay falls free. They are partnering with the National Council on Aging (NCOA) to mark Falls Prevention Awareness Week from September 18-24, 2022.

Falls are a major public health concern. Texas has 3.2 million adults over 65. One-third of them fall each year. Falls are the leading cause of both fatal and nonfatal injuries among older adults

This is a perfect opportunity for older adults and caregivers in our hometown to learn how to prevent falls and take steps to stay falls free. Falling is NOT a normal part of aging. The event will feature an online falls risk assessment tool available at no cost to individuals across the country. Visitors to www.ncoa.org/FallsFreeCheckUp can complete a short, 12-question survey that screens for the most common falls risk factors.

Veda Posit Aging is a concierge wellness practice for education, awareness and action on the multiple facets of healthy aging. Rekha Nath is the founder of the practice she is a physical therapist with over three decades of experience in neurology and geriatrics. She is certified in geriatrics and as a Functional Standards of optimal Aging expert with a passion for prevention. She uses evidence based techniques so you can add life to your years not just years to your life.

About NCOA

The National Council on Aging (NCOA) is the national voice for every person’s right to age well. We believe that how we age should not be determined by gender, color, sexuality, income, or zip code. Working with thousands of national and local partners, we provide resources, tools, best practices, and advocacy to ensure every person can age with health and financial security. Founded in 1950, we are the oldest national organization focused on older adults. Learn more at ncoa.org and @NCOAging.
