Our next joint lunch meeting is Wednesday, October 19 at noon. We’ll meet this time at the AGE of Central Texas conference room, 3710 Cedar Street.
Note: This will be a “brown bag”, bring-your-own lunch (and drink) event.
Back by popular demand, our October speaker will be CCV Member John Berry, with his own, fascinating perspective on Northwest European history. The title of his talk is quite a mouth-full: "A Skeptic's View of Northwest European History: Fish, Fuel, Forests and Foundries: Fear, Fighting and Fleeing". If CCV offered an annual prize for Absolutely Awesome Alliteration, John would be the winner, no contest!
John’s presentation will touch on history, environmental change, and the reasons peoples migrated, invaded and scrapped over prime real estate across the centuries. He will include pictures of off-the-beaten-track Eastern England, 17th century Swedish Mining settlements, the Isle of Man, and the Arnhem WWII battlefield, among others.
One might well wonder why John harbors a “Skeptic’s View” of this interesting corner of Europe. To find out, put on your learnin' hat, and add this unique event on your calendars right now.
FYI, seating is limited to 24, so reserve early.
