Neill-Cochran House Museum's Restored Slave Quarters

Join us at the Neill-Cochran House Museum (NSCDA-TX) to take an in-depth look at the restoration of the slave quarters, undertaken during the past several years.

According to the statewide director, Dr. Rowena Dasch, the building is the only slave quarters in Austin that has been completely restored. Additionally six interpretive panels will examine the history of enslavement and racial conflict in Texas from the Spanish colonial period up to the Civil Rights era. Copies of the booklet, Reckoning with the Past: Slavery, Segregation, and Gentrification in Austin with be available for distribution to participants. Participants will also have a chance to experience the interesting art exhibit Texas Lost and Found by Lawrence Jolly, now on display at the NCHM.
