Come join CCV members and guests for a talk about fraud prevention with Jessica Lemann, Senior Associate State Director of Outreach & Advocacy at AARP Texas. At our June 19th BYO Lunch meeting at the AGE Building, she will address the group on "Fraud Basics: The Scam Landscape and Staying Safe". In person attendance limited to 40 participants.
AARP can help if you have ever been approached with a fraudulent offer or been a victim of identity theft. The AARP Fraud Watch Network is working to empower you in the fight, with proven resources and tools to help you spot and avoid identity theft and fraud.
In Jessica's presentation, you’ll hear about the latest data on fraud trends and get tips and resources to protect yourself and your family. By taking a few practical steps, you have the power to fight back against fraud.
The presentation will cover:
- Common scams and how to spot and avoid them
- Tactics scammers use to target individuals
- What to do if you or a loved one encounter fraud
- Resources to help protect yourself and your family
Jessica is responsible for sharing AARP information and resources on a variety of topics from fraud to family caregiving across central Texas, and she advocates at the local level for livable community policies that allow older adults to age in their home and community. She began her work with AARP in their Louisiana office in 2007 leading their community engagement efforts in the Hollygrove neighborhood of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. She joined the AARP Texas team in 2010.
PLEASE NOTE THE LOCATION CHANGE! The AGE Building is located on Cedar Street in the North University neighborhood. We'll be in the St. David's Conference Room which is on the first floor at main entrance next to the HELP office.
