YOU...our fellow CCV members and volunteers are some of the most interesting people we know and conversations with YOU are the most interesting opportunities. The "things" we save often reflect stories about our history, our travels, our hobbies and more. This new CCV series, “Our Collections”, will give us opportunities to share those stories and hopefully spark comments and connections among participants. Zoom makes it possible to show collections we have saved, with focus on one special object.
This month we welcome member and volunteer Doug Bell who will be sharing the legacy of his parents Doug, Sr. and Betty Bell, who had creative activities beyond their daily work. Doug, Sr. was a geologist, and Betty a home maker. Her hobbies were art including painting, sculptures, and murals. Doug, Sr. built furniture in the evenings after work and gave it to their two children, Doug, Jr. and Barbara. They travelled extensively through Mexico and states in the USA.
Doug is a retired professional civil engineer and is a volunteer driver for CCV and has served on several committees. Joan is a PhD who worked for many years for school districts and other
Austin-based nonprofit organizations. Her expertise is connecting people to other people who can volunteer for nonprofit organizations.
If you are interested in a family's love of art, this is the zoom for you.
